Dear Friends and Colleagues interested in Paranormal Research,

We are currently undertaking research into areas of the UK where there have been reports of people with what seem to be unusual, inexplicable or anomalous powers, and we would be very grateful indeed for any cases that you know of that you would be willing to share with us.

For more than thirty years we have investigated many types of anomalous and paranormal phenomena on site and at first hand all over the world, and we have, understandably, compiled a large data base of our own during that time. For our current research project, however, we are looking for as much additional data as we can find, which is why we are contacting knowledgeable individuals and organisations such as yourselves.

In particular we are looking for reports concerning: telepathy; telekinesis — such as Uri Geller’s spoon–bending phenomena; teleportation; time–slips like the one reported from Versailles by Miss Moberly and Miss Jourdain in 1901; OOBEs and astral travel; general mediumship including clairvoyance and clairaudience; psychometry; hypno–regression — either reports from hypno–regressionists or from their particularly good subjects; pyrogenecists and fire–walkers; levitationists like D.D.Home; psychic artists and musicians; glossolalia and automatic writing; rain–makers and weather controllers/forecasters; psychic healers — including minor incidents such as wart–charming and curing toothache; astrologers; palm–readers; numerologists; tarot–card readers; pyramidologists; spell–weavers and enchanters — including practitioners of Voodoo and Obeah; experts in reading I–Ching; experts in Feng Shui; yogic suspended animation; X–ray visionaries who appear able to see through opaque substances; people like Ted Serios who seem able to create thought–images on film; sliders — people who extinguish street–lights as they walk past them; cases of suspended animation and longevity; people who believe themselves to have special powers that make them invisible, or invincible — Aleister Crowley, for example, believed that he had mastered the secret of invisibility.

Patricia and I have the honour and privilege of being President and First Lady of ASSAP — the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena –– and our approach to all our research into the many interesting and unusual cases that we investigate is invariably open–minded and sympathetic –– as well as being scientifically rigorous and objective. We share the Fortean approach to unsolved mysteries of all kinds: nothing is so well proven and widely accepted that it cannot be looked into again — and nothing is too strange to be denied a fair and open–minded investigation.

We would be enormously grateful for any help or advice that you can give us to assist with this current project. Details of the broad location of the phenomena in the UK are especially important for this work.

With our kindest regards, best wishes and thanks in advance,

Lionel and Patricia
