Christmas is a very special and important time for everyone.  Loving families and friends exchange gifts and those in need of charity are generously helped.  The religious significance of the Christmas festival is, of course, the Incarnation of Christ at Bethlehem more than 2000 years ago.  Clement Clarke Moore's wonderful poem captures the spirit of Christmas so effectively that it has endeared itself to millions as an essential part of the Christmas celebrations.  He lived from 1779-1863 and was a contemporary of Edgar Allan Poe -- yet no two writers could have been more different!
